The IEB+ Argentina Open is the WTA 125 event in Buenos Aires, a week of women’s clay-court tennis that closes the South American season after the tour-level calendar has ended. It has been on the WTA 125 schedule since 2021 and is one of two WTA 125 clay-court events in South America in November.
It shares a sponsor name with the men’s ATP 250 in Buenos Aires, which is played in February, but it is a separate tournament. This guide covers the dates, the draw, the ranking points, the prize money and the champions. The year-specific details, including who is entered, are in the dated Season Snapshot at the end.
Dates and Schedule
The 2026 tournament runs from Monday, 23 November to Sunday, 29 November on outdoor clay, with the final on the Sunday. Match times are set day by day in the order of play, and our order-of-play explainer covers how to read it.
The Draw
The singles main draw has 32 players and the doubles draw has eight teams. A 32-player draw is five rounds, so the singles champion wins five matches, and the doubles champions win three. A full 32-player draw has no byes.
Entry is by WTA ranking, with places held back for wild cards and for players who come through qualifying. When a player withdraws after the qualifying draw is made, the place goes to a lucky loser. The draw sheet can also show special exempt entries, a place reserved for a player still competing at an event the previous week. How those entry types appear on a draw sheet is explained in our guide on how to read a tennis draw, and the qualifying stage in our explainer on tour-level qualifying.
The doubles format and scoring are covered in our guide to doubles and our tiebreak rules explainer.
Ranking Points
The tier is named for the champion’s points: a WTA 125 title is worth 125 WTA ranking points. The singles main-draw scale for a 32-player WTA 125:
- Winner: 125
- Finalist: 81
- Semifinalist: 49
- Quarterfinalist: 27
- Round of 16: 15
- First round: 1
- Qualifier: 6
Those points count toward a player’s WTA ranking alongside her tour-level results. Where WTA 125 events sit among the other levels, and who is allowed to play them, is set out in our WTA 125 explainer; the ranking calculation itself is in our WTA rankings explainer.
Prize Money
The total financial commitment for 2026 is $115,000, the standard WTA 125 level and the same figure the event offered in 2025. The round-by-round breakdown had not been published at the time of writing.
Past Champions
- 2021: Anna Bondar, who beat Diane Parry in the final for the biggest title of her career at the time
- 2022: Panna Udvardy, her first WTA 125 title
- 2023: Laura Pigossi
- 2024: Mayar Sherif
- 2025: Panna Udvardy, seeded third
Udvardy is the only player to win the title twice. In 2025 the top two seeds, Sherif and Leolia Jeanjean, both lost before the final.
Where It Fits in the Calendar
The WTA’s tour-level season ends with the WTA Finals, which runs from 8 to 15 November in 2026. Buenos Aires begins eight days later, so its points land in the final weeks of the ranking year. The professional ranking systems behind that are compared in our tennis rankings explainer.
Matches can be followed through the WTA’s live-streaming service for WTA 125 events, linked from the tournament page.
