Ownership and Funding

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Readers should know who owns a publication and how it pays for itself. This page sets out both for Global Tennis News.

Ownership

Global Tennis News is a division of Tico Card Company registered in the state of Deleware. It was founded by Steven Hodel, who is its editor and principal journalist. Hodel also covers tennis as Tennis Correspondent for The Tico Times.

Global Tennis News is not owned by any tennis tour, federation, tournament, player management company or betting operator.

How we are funded

Global Tennis News is free to read. It is funded through the following sources.

Affiliate commissions. Some links to tennis equipment, tickets and related products are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission on purchases made through them. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Prediction market referrals. Some tournament coverage includes a widget showing live market prices from Kalshi, a prediction market. Global Tennis News participates in Kalshi’s referral program and may be paid when a reader opens an account through a link in that widget. Prices are published as information about how the market views an event, not as a recommendation to trade.

Advertising. Display advertising, where it appears, is sold and placed separately from editorial content.

Editorial services. Global Tennis News produces commissioned reporting, research and photography for other publishers and organizations. See Editorial Services.

Photography licensing. Original Global Tennis News photography is available for editorial and commercial licensing.

How we manage conflicts of interest

No advertiser, affiliate partner, referral partner or client has any say in what we cover or how. The Kalshi referral relationship has no bearing on which players or events we cover or how we report on them.

Commissioned work produced for editorial services clients is delivered to the client and is not published on Global Tennis News as independent reporting. If we report on an organization that is, or has recently been, a client, the article discloses the relationship.

Tournament media accreditation is granted to working journalists and carries no obligation to cover an event favorably. We do not accept payment, gifts or hospitality in exchange for coverage.

Questions

Questions about ownership, funding or commercial relationships can be sent to info@globaltennisnews.com. Our Editorial Standards explain how we report.
