Grand Prix Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Guide — Lyon Dates, Venue, Field and the Marseille Move

The Grand Prix Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes brings tour-level men’s tennis to Lyon’s LDLC Arena in October 2026. It is not a new licence. It is the ATP 250 that was played in Marseille as the Open 13 Provence, and its organisers announced in September 2025, with the approval of the ATP Board, that the event would move to Lyon from 2026, according to the ATP.

When and Where

The first edition runs from Sunday 18 October to Sunday 25 October 2026, according to the LDLC Arena. ATP rules require tour-level main draws to start on a Monday and finish on a Sunday unless the ATP approves otherwise, so main-draw play is scheduled to begin on Monday 19 October.

The LDLC Arena is a multi-purpose indoor venue in Lyon-Décines that opened in December 2023 and has staged basketball, wrestling and concerts, the ATP said. The All In Country Club, run by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Thierry Ascione, serves as the players’ training base during the week.

Format and Points

Lyon is an indoor ATP 250. Under the ATP rulebook, every ATP 250 runs a 16-player singles qualifying draw, and all tour-level singles matches are best of three tie-break sets. Doubles matches are two tie-break sets with a 10-point match tie-break at one set all, played with no-ad scoring. GTN’s ATP 250 guide sets out the points and how the category fits into the ranking.

Who Runs It

The LDLC Arena describes the tournament as a partnership between the arena, ALL IN GROUP, the company founded by Tsonga and Ascione, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.

“This transition represents a new chapter in the history of our tournament,” Tsonga said when the relocation was announced, according to the ATP. “Holding it at the LDLC Arena, a state-of-the-art venue, will allow us to continue to grow by offering the best possible experience to players and fans.”

“We look forward to welcoming you to this first edition in October 2026 and sharing unique emotions with you,” Ascione said.

The Field

The organizers have announced Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, Brandon Nakashima, Valentin Vacherot, Lorenzo Musetti, Arthur Rinderknech and Ugo Humbert, along with Stan Wawrinka and Gaël Monfils, according to the LDLC Arena. Humbert is the name with the history since he won the last two editions played in Marseille, beating Grigor Dimitrov in the 2024 final and Hamad Medjedovic 7-6(4), 6-4 in 2025, when he became the first Frenchman to win the event in back-to-back years and improved to 13-2 there, according to the ATP. GTN profiles of Vacherot, Musetti, Tiafoe, Paul, Nakashima and Rinderknech cover the rest of the announced names.

Past Champions of the Marseille Event

Because Lyon inherits the Marseille event, its roll of honour begins in Marseille. The champions below are those GTN confirmed against ATP reports; the full list is on the ATP’s tournament pages.

  • 2025: Ugo Humbert d. Hamad Medjedovic 7-6(4), 6-4
  • 2024: Ugo Humbert d. Grigor Dimitrov
  • 2021: Daniil Medvedev d. Pierre-Hugues Herbert, in three sets
  • 2018: Karen Khachanov

Where Lyon Sits on the Calendar

Lyon shares its week with two other ATP 250s, the Almaty Open and the European Open in Brussels, and falls the week after the Shanghai Masters final. From there the tour stays indoors in Europe through the Paris Masters and the Nitto ATP Finals, a run GTN covers in The European Indoor Season Explained.
