The Swiss Indoors Basel is an ATP 500 tournament played indoors at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland. The 2026 edition, the 55th, runs from Saturday, 24 October to Sunday, 1 November, according to the tournament, and it will be the last tournament of Stan Wawrinka’s career. It is one of the final stops of the European indoor season before the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
Dates and Schedule
The tournament lists its 2026 dates as 24 October to 1 November. In 2025 the ATP schedule used the opening weekend for qualifying, with the main draw running Monday to Sunday and both finals on the closing Sunday. The 2026 order of play will be published by the tournament once the draw is made.
The tournament director is Roger Brennwald, according to the ATP.
Wawrinka’s Farewell
The tournament has set aside the evening of Monday, 26 October, which it calls Super Monday, for a tribute to Wawrinka, the three-time Grand Slam champion. The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. local time, and the tournament said fans will be able to watch him play “live one last time” over the following days. The background to his decision is in our report on Wawrinka’s final ATP tournament.
Points and Prize Money
The 2026 prize money is EUR 2.584 million, according to the tournament. As an ATP 500, Basel awards ranking points under the 2026 ATP rulebook as follows:
- Champion: 500
- Finalist: 330
- Semifinalist: 200
- Quarterfinalist: 100
- Round of 16: 50
- First-round loser: 0
ATP 500 events award no points for a first-round loss. Withdrawing from an ATP 500 also carries a zero-point ranking penalty under the ATP rules, with exceptions for injured players who supply approved medical forms.
Recent Champions
- 2025: João Fonseca d. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3, 6-4
- 2024: Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard d. Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-6(4)
- 2023: Félix Auger-Aliassime
- 2022: Félix Auger-Aliassime
- 2019: Roger Federer d. Alex de Minaur 6-2, 6-2
Fonseca was 19 when he won in 2025, which made him the second-youngest champion in the tournament’s history after Jim Courier in 1989, according to the ATP. It was his first ATP 500 title. Mpetshi Perricard’s 2024 title made him the lowest-ranked champion since Basel became a tour-level event in 1975.
Federer’s Ten Titles
Basel is Roger Federer’s hometown, and his 2019 win over de Minaur was his 10th title there. The ATP noted at the time that it was only the second tournament where he had reached double figures in titles, alongside Halle, and that the win took his record at the event to 75-9. “What a moment for me to win my 10th here in my hometown of Basel,” Federer said.
The 2026 Field
