Global Tennis News is an independent publication covering the ATP and WTA tours and the Grand Slams. This page sets out how we report, verify, attribute and correct our work, and what readers can expect from everything we publish.
Who is responsible
Global Tennis News is founded and edited by Steven Hodel, who reports from tournaments in person under media accreditation. He reviews and approves every article before publication and is accountable for the accuracy of everything published on this site.
Sourcing and verification
Results, rankings, draws, schedules and match statistics are checked against official sources: the ATP Tour, the WTA, the Grand Slam tournaments and individual tournament websites.
Factual claims are verified against at least two named, dated sources before publication. Where only one source supports a claim, the article attributes it to that source in the text. Where a figure cannot be verified, we leave it out rather than hedge it.
Social media posts, forums and aggregator sites are not treated as confirmation. Third-party statistics are used only when they reconcile with official figures. A table that does not add up is discarded, not selectively quoted.
Quotes and press conferences
Quotes come from official press conference transcripts, tour and tournament media releases, interviews conducted by Global Tennis News, or published interviews credited to the outlet that conducted them. Every quote is attributed. Quotes may be shortened, but never in a way that changes their meaning.
Match reporting
Match reports are built from the official match statistics and the players’ press conferences, alongside the tour and tournament record of the result. A description of how a point or game was played comes from our own observation on site or from a source who saw it. An interpretation of a player’s tactics or intent is attributed to the player, a coach or another named source, or it is not published.
News, analysis and opinion
News articles report what happened. Analysis explains why it matters and is grounded in results, rankings and the historical record. Opinion, when we publish it, is labeled as opinion. We do not present speculation as fact.
Evergreen pages and updates
Player profiles, tournament guides and explainers are maintained over time. Information that changes during a season, such as rankings, coaching arrangements and recent results, is kept in clearly dated sections so readers can see when it was last checked. When we materially update an article, we say so.
Photography
Photography credited to Global Tennis News is original work, shot on site and captioned with the event, surface and year in which it was taken. We do not use a photograph from one event or surface to illustrate another. Agency photography is credited to its agency.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made on news value and relevance to readers. Advertisers, affiliate and referral partners, and editorial services clients have no say in what we cover or how we cover it. We do not accept payment, gifts or hospitality in exchange for coverage, and sponsored content, if we publish it, is clearly labeled.
Tournament media accreditation is granted to working journalists and carries no obligation to cover an event favorably. How Global Tennis News is owned and funded is set out on our Ownership and Funding page.
Use of AI tools
Global Tennis News uses AI tools to assist with research and drafting. Every article is reviewed, edited and approved by a human editor before it is published. Our AI Disclosure explains where these tools are and are not used.
