About Global Tennis News

Our Mission

Global Tennis News was created to cover the sport with clarity, depth, and respect for its history.

Tennis moves fast. Rankings shift weekly. Narratives change match by match. Too often, coverage chases noise instead of substance. Our mission is simple: report what matters, explain what it means, and preserve the context that gives the sport its weight.

We focus on accuracy, structure, and perspective. Every result fits into a larger story. Every ranking change has consequences. Every era reshapes the game.

This publication exists to connect those dots.

What We Cover

Global Tennis News provides coverage across:

  • ATP Tour
  • WTA Tour
  • Grand Slam tournaments
  • Rankings and points movement
  • Tournament structure and calendar
  • Historical analysis
  • Player profiles
  • Long-form features

We report on real-time developments while building a permanent archive of evergreen tennis knowledge. The sport deserves both.

Who We Are

Global Tennis News is founded and edited by Steven Hodel who reports from the ATP and WTA tours and the Grand Slams in person, with original match photography. The site’s coverage carries a particular focus on Latin American players across both tours — an angle underserved in English-language tennis media.

Firstname Lastname also writes tennis for Tico Times (ticotimes.net), bringing tour coverage to a Costa Rican and Latin American readership, and is working toward membership of the International Tennis Writers Association (ITWA). Global Tennis News is a division of Tico Card Company.

Our Approach

Tennis is global. Its audience is informed. Our reporting reflects that.

We prioritize:

  • Verified information
  • Clear match analysis
  • Contextual ranking coverage
  • Structured tournament reporting
  • Respect for the history of the game

We avoid speculation presented as fact. We separate opinion from reporting. When analysis is offered, it is grounded in data, results, and long-term trends.

A Long View of the Sport

Tennis does not exist in 24-hour cycles. It unfolds over seasons, careers, and eras.

Global Tennis News places current events within the broader arc of the Open Era and beyond. Records matter. Surface dynamics matter. Calendar structure matters. The sport’s institutional framework matters.

Understanding tennis requires understanding its systems. We explain those systems clearly and thoroughly.

Independence and Integrity

Global Tennis News operates independently. Editorial decisions are made based on relevance and importance to the sport.

Advertising and affiliate relationships, when present, do not influence editorial content. Sponsored content, if ever published, will be clearly labeled.

Trust is built slowly and lost quickly. We treat it accordingly.

Who We Serve

This publication is for:

  • Dedicated tennis fans
  • Casual viewers seeking clarity
  • Players and coaches
  • Industry professionals
  • Readers discovering the sport

Whether you are tracking ranking movement, following a specific player, or studying the history of a tournament, this site is built to provide reliable information without distraction.

Looking Ahead

The sport is entering a new phase. The post-Big Three era is unfolding. A new generation is reshaping expectations. On the women’s side, depth and volatility have redefined dominance.

We will be here to document it — carefully, consistently, and with perspective.

Tennis deserves coverage that respects both its present and its past.

Global Tennis News exists to provide it.
